Glad to see the trees today!
Holly Parker
27:04
Agreed - happy to see trees!
Chris McArdle
28:58
If you want to sound like a native, refer to Barnard Park as “South Green” ;-)
Chris McArdle
32:13
Yes - getting them off the intersection with Park would be a big improvement.
Andrea Hartman
32:58
Yay for reducing the speeds at Charter Oak
Chris McArdle
33:30
Suggest you take the bike track around the corner to Charter Oak Avenue and connect it to the bike lane on Charter Oak Ave that starts @ Charter Oak Place
Kate Montgomery
33:58
Love the design and consolidation of bus stops. However, would bus stops at the mid block crosswalk cause conflict with the fire trucks?
Nick Addamo
34:23
Please use caution when placing street parking near bus stops. There are many bus stops today with parking too close to allow for buses to pull all the way to the curb, forcing passengers to board the bus in the street (a major problem for passengers with disabilities or in wheelchairs)
Chris McArdle
34:50
^+1
Chris McArdle
36:23
Appears to be a potential conflict with pedestrians / people waiting for the bus and the bike lane behind it
Kate Montgomery
36:39
Bike riding in Berlin Germany, having bus shelters on the street side of the bike path was much more comfortable for riding. Great idea
Chris McArdle
38:20
All streets that connect to South Green begin their numbers at South Green
Liza Cohen
38:49
^Love facts like that!
Nick Addamo
38:49
Wow! Great rendering.
Kate Montgomery
39:18
I like limited access to one of the branches of main street.
Chris McArdle
40:13
Opening up the Wyllys Street side for pedestrian comfort is a great feature
Kate Montgomery
44:37
Rather than cycle track curving with the road at the round about as shown in the birds-eye view could it run parallel to the sidewalk to get bikes further from cars going through the roundabout?
Dan Hemme
47:05
Noted - and we'll be keeping a record of this chat as well!
Nick Addamo
48:39
Minor note, but the stop bars are sketched very close to the crosswalks. Consider some more distance between the stop bars and the crosswalks. Pedestrians will thank you!
Bill Veronesi
54:06
No Walk your bike signs, please!
Andrea Hartman
55:07
Cool idea :)
Kate Montgomery
57:47
Philadelphia’s University City district has lots of great parklet resources. Love teaming with the fresh-start pallets! Any planters planned?
Kate Montgomery
01:00:10
landscaped median/bioswall needs back up irrigation in the median so watering could be done by volunteers or restaurants or KNOX when needed
Bill Veronesi
01:00:52
Can you sync the beacons with the stoplights?
Chris McArdle
01:11:22
Absolutely - with coordination with the busses over the air
Chris McArdle
01:11:54
It works on the Avenues in NYC
Chris McArdle
01:12:45
20 Is Plenty
Andrea Hartman
01:13:17
It might be outside the scope of this project, but is anyone discussing better activating the raised Bushnell Plaza sculpture garden space at all? Seems like such a waste of prime RE right now
Chris McArdle
01:14:12
It’s private property IIRC - who owns it?
Andrea Hartman
01:14:34
Yup - the IM Pei plaza
Kate Montgomery
01:14:51
yeah it needs plants!
Peter Walsh
01:15:55
it looks as though it should be ccordinated with the Wadsworth sculpture placements but it is not.
Kate Montgomery
01:16:45
the involved owners need a quick inspo sketch to get them invested in the plaza?
Nick Addamo
01:18:54
what will be the final product of this visioning project? A report? Corridor sketches?
Nick Addamo
01:19:23
(the entire project, I mean, not just this week's 3-day session)
Bill Veronesi
01:20:12
Looks good! I would like a bike lane connection to Maple.
Peter Walsh
01:20:46
What lists did you use to contact us for these Zoom meeting?
Lynn Ferrari
01:20:54
I like the round-about and neck downs around South Green.
Anne Hayes
01:21:48
I appreciate the transparency of this entire process. . . I know you have been working with many stakeholders (I'm with Travelers) to make sure you understand the whole story. . . it's looking good!
Chris McArdle
01:22:02
Agree with Bill - the way to terminate this project on the south end is to join it to the bike lanes on Wethersfield, Wyllys (coming and going to the east of South Green) and Maple, Retreat, Franklin...
Chris McArdle
01:23:58
One other suggestion - Wyllys Avenue from the east corner with Main and Wethersfield to Jefferson St and Maple as a traffic calming plaza
Lynn Ferrari
01:24:27
Has any of this been shared with Senator Murphy and Congressman Larson?
Chris McArdle
01:25:07
Especially since Murphy now lives in the neighborhood....
Cynthia Rider-Hartford Stage (she/hers)
01:26:29
Are there any plans to continue this further North towards Church street andHartford Stage?
Anne Hayes
01:27:31
Thank you!
Peter Walsh
01:27:34
thank you!
Nick Addamo
01:28:07
thank you!
